Charles DE LINT

Charles de Lint is een fantasy auteur woontin Canada. Verder is hij ook bekend als Keltische folk musicus. Samen met Terri Windling maakte hij werken onder een soort mythische fantasy dat valt tussen fantastische literatuur en mainstream fictie met een magisch-realistische tint. Men kan zijn stijl ook onder de noemer "urban myth" of "urban fantasy" plaatsen. Volgens hem is zijn fantasy "fantasy voor hen die geen fantasy lezen".

Geboren in Bussum, Nederland, emigreerde zijn ouders naar Canada toen hij amper 4 maand oud was.

Onder het pseudoniem Samuel M Key publiceerde hij 3 novels, die later onder zijn echte naam werden heruitgegeven. Veel van zijn werk bevindt zich in de mythische Noordamerikaanse stad Newford en veel van zijn karakters komen telkens terug. Verder heeft hij ook een kindernovel, Circle of Cats, uitgebracht met de illustrator Charles Vess.

Hij heeft ondertussen al enkele prijzen gewonnen met zijn werk waaronder de 2000 World Fantasy Award voor Best Collection for Moonlight and Vines.
